The Botanizers club is interested in studying and identifying plants, shrubs, mosses, mushrooms, and grasses. The main activity is field trips to find and identify plants. The day-long trips run throughout the state to widely varied sites such as woods, prairies, and bogs. The trips are often to places closed to the public. A weekend trip is held annually to a place of special interest.
Knowledge of plant botany is not necessary to join the group, only interest in wild plants and a desire to learn about them.
The Botanizers lead several plant walks during the year for the general public on Center properties. All members are encouraged to participate in these walks and share their plant knowledge and interest with others.

Flora-quest is being held at Shawnee State Park and the Edge of Appalachia, May 1-3, 2009. Twenty botanists and naturalists from all over Ohio, promote conservation and preservation of botanical diversity by taking part in this non-profit venture.
