The Wilderness Center Nature Photo Club welcomes professional photographer and author Tony Sweet, who will be conducting a one-day photography seminar at the Wilderness Center on Saturday, May 9, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tony is multi-talented, having been a professional jazz artist for 20 years before turning his creative juices to nature photography. His work has been published on calendars, post cards, posters, greeting cards, and various other venues. His articles and images have been featured in Shutterbug and Rangefinder magazines and he is a staff writer for Nikon World magazine. He has authored three books on the art of photography: Fine Art Nature Photography, Fine Art Flower Photography, and Fine Art Nature Photography: Water, Ice, Fog. A fourth book in the Fine Art Photography series is due to be released in February of 2009. Registration for the seminar is $59.00, with a special rate of $49.00 for those reserving a spot before April 9, 2009. The aims of this club shall be to promote and encourage amateur photography of subjects and events in and of nature; through cooperation, effort, and good fellowship; to give challenge to and promote progressive development of the membership in the field of nature photography; to encourage good sportsmanship through comparison and constructive criticism; when called upon, to act as the photographic arm of The Wilderness Center, Inc. The Nature Photo Club consists of approximately 65 Members. Guests are welcome at our monthly meetings which typically have 40-50 members/guests in attendance. Meetings consist of a brief review of club business followed by refreshments and snacks and then the feature program for the month. We typically conclude the meeting with an informal review of images from our members and an optional critique may be requested. Members are encouraged to share their images at meetings in addition to display in the rotating gallery and club bulletin board, both of which on the 2nd floor of The Wilderness Center. |
