Black Racer under tin coverboard in Adams County

Tin is in!

Using coverboards to monitor snakes and other wildlife is a standard practice in field herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians). At TWC we are using arrays of tin roofing material as coverboards. These sheets are easy to flip when checking for critters and keep us from destroying logs or having to flip heavy rocks. The picture at left is of a Black Racer under a tin coverboard in Adams County.

Join us for a snake walk this summer! Check the newsletter or web calendar for times and dates. You never know what we'll find!
