Learn more about Ohio’s natural history! The Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) program is a training based on the intensive Master Gardening model and run through OSU Extension. Participants complete 40 hours of training and 40 hours of community service. Coursework includes training in geology, plants, insects, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, ecology, stewardship, and interpretation. Over the past 2 years, TWC has been involved in training over 100 volunteers. The graduates have put in lots of volunteer hours at TWC and in the surrounding counties. They are docenting (leading classes), working on trails, helping with wildlife monitoring, setting up monarch butterfly waystations, and doing countless other tasks. This class will be taught right here at TWC.
