A Night in with Nature

Saturday, September 12th
7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Support The Wilderness Center and explore the wild of your own backyard! Join in our backyard quiz to discover what kind of nature-lover you are, while enjoying pizza and a beer tasting for two from Lockport Brewery.

Your $65 “admission fee” will support The Wilderness Center and local businesses and will include a take-and-bake pizza and four 8 oz. tasting beers to be picked up at Lockport Brewery in Bolivar beginning on September 11th. Two decadent, locally-produced Coblentz chocolates will add a sweet finish to your evening.

The evening’s program will discuss “Your Backyard Wild,” offering fun facts about the nature all around us and stories of the wildlife that can be found in our backyards. Attendees can then participate in a fun and light-hearted quiz and will be entered to win a raffle prize from the TWC Nature Store!

Beers to be sampled will include:

1. Gateway – American-Style Cream Ale (5.5% ABV)

Gateway is a crisp and refreshing ale that drinks like a pilsner. Just like our town of Bolivar is the ‘Gateway to Tuscarawas County’, this beer is a great gateway to craft beer. Winner of the 2018 Great America Beer Fest and 2019 Ohio Craft Brewers Cup.

2. Spirit Burner – Maple Brown Ale (5.25% ABV)

Spirit Burner is made with maple syrup harvested locally at Camp TuscaZoar. The camp is rich with beauty and history, encompassing nearly 800 acres used by Scouts and the public for mountain biking, camping, hiking and more. Commemorating the camp;s 100 year anniversary in 2020, this beer is named after their motto “Keep the Spirit.”

3. Ruckus IPA – American IPA (6.8% ABV)

At the height of the British empire in the late 1700’s, sailors and troops in India learned that the climate was too warm for brewing. Pale ales were made with extra hops and higher ABV to help preserve the beer during transport from England to India, and the style India Pale Ale was born. Our west-coast style IPA is full-bodied, with hop-derived citrus and stone fruit flavors.

4. Oktoberfest – Seasonal

Please provide an email address during your registration so we may send you the link to join our online get together. Due to the alcohol sale and applicable laws, funds will be collected through Lockport Brewery and donated to The Wilderness Center. Be aware that the pizza should be refrigerated and that you must be 21 or older to participate (ID will be required).

About Lockport Brewery:

Started by husband and wife team Andrew and Lauren Marburger in 2016, Lockport Brewery is Tuscarawas County’s first brewery in over 65 years. The name “Lockport” comes from the “Old Lockport Lager,” brewed by the local New Philadelphia Brewing Company before prohibition. We adopted the name to honor the rich brewing history of the area, with an ode to the locks and canals that pass through our communities.

Andrew cut his teeth home brewing before becoming an assistant brewer at Millersburg Brewing Company under Brewmaster Marty Lindon. After years of planning, the sale of our house, and help from some family and friends, the dream of owning our own brewery became a reality.
