The Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) Program is run through OSU Extension. Participants complete 40 hours of training and 40 hours of community service. Coursework includes training in geology, plants, insects, birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, ecology, stewardship, and interpretation. Classes are offered throughout the state.
This year’s class will be a hybrid of virtual classes and in-person field days. Mondays and Fridays, we will meet via zoom for interactive classes, assignments, and group work. (Don’t worry! You won’t be stuck in front of the computer all day!) On Wednesdays, we will meet outside at The Wilderness Center for field investigations. Covid-19 requirements may change as we approach the start of class. If they do, we will adjust and make any necessary changes. You will be kept informed of any changes, and if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask.
