In partnership with the National First Ladies Library & Museum, we are celebrating Amercia 250 with a special summer program for adults.

Lady Bird Johnson believed beauty mattered and proved it could be policy. This 30-minute program explores her leadership behind the Highway Beautification Act and her passionate advocacy for indigenous plants and wildflowers. Through her work, America’s roadsides and public spaces were transformed into places of environmental awareness rather than visual clutter. Participants will examine how beautification became a strategic tool for conservation, civic pride, and environmental stewardship, and how Lady Bird Johnson’s vision continues to shape the everyday landscapes Americans encounter today.
