For many of us, firefly-filled summer nights were a beloved childhood experience. But the magic doesn’t have to stop there! Join TWC Naturalist and firefly enthusiast Sarah Cline as we explore the wondrous world of firefly diversity, discover the science behind their bright glow, and shed some light on their remarkable lives.
We’ll start off indoors with some background information and identification strategies, then hit the trails and explore different habitats as day turns to night.
The length of this hike and its educational content are not designed for children. Families, please check out our Firefly Fest on June 26 to get your firefly fix!
After your hike, weather permitting, join the Astronomy Club in TWC's observatory to enjoy what the spring night sky has to offer through our telescopes!
Terrain: up to 2.0 miles, on gravel, grass, and sloped trails, slow pace with limited visibility.
