Researchers have found over 6000 exoplanets! This sounds like a lot, but it’s a mere drop in the bucket compared to the millions that are thought to exist. Is there life on any of these alien worlds? On Earth, scientists have found microorganisms called extremophiles that live in extreme temperatures, acidity, alkalinity, or chemical concentrations. Maybe extremophiles like these can exist on exoplanets. We’ll explore several exoplanets using 3D artists’ renderings based on data collected for each planet - are they rocky worlds or gas giants, are they hot or cold, do they have water, do they have an atmosphere? What extreme environments do they have? The search for Earth-like planets and life continues! A “Tonight’s Sky” program showing seasonal constellations and planets currently in the night sky will follow the show.
